Cairns, 15.11.2004 --- Casinos Austria International (CAI) and The Reef Hotel Casino are proud to announce that the renowned Australian entertainment complex has once again in 2004 been recognized by Tourism Tropical North Queensland for its outstanding performance and services to tourism in the region.

Over 550 guests attended a showcase Gala Presentation Evening in Cairns in early November when The Reef Hotel Casino received the 2004 award for Best Significant Tourist Attraction in North Queensland. This award recognises organisations that significantly contribute to the tourism experience in the region. In 2003, The Reef Hotel Casino received an "Encouragement Award" for the same category.

Executive Manager Sales and Marketing, Richard Porter, accepted the award and thanked the sponsors, the judges and all the staff and management at The Reef Hotel Casino for their support and efforts.

The celebrations continued when The Reef Hotel Casino's signature Tamarind Restaurant was then awarded top place in the category Best Tourism Restaurants & Catering Services. The category is judged on the basis of restaurants and catering services offering a tourism experience or servicing the tourism industry in North Queensland.

Gillian Jones, Restaurant Manager of Tamarind, accepted the award, expressing her delight at winning yet another award and thanking her service and kitchen staff for their dedication and support. Tamarind had already won awards in the categories Best Restaurant of the Year Informal Dining, Best Hotel/Motel Restaurant and Best Themed Restaurant at the Restaurant & Catering Queensland Far North Queensland Awards for Excellence 2004.

All such awards raise the profile and awareness of The Reef Hotel Casino and distinguish the complex as a provider of the pinnacle in service, standards and innovation.

Tourism Tropical North Queensland is the principal marketing body for North Queensland and is responsible for selling the destination both at home and abroad. Its annual Tourism Awards are a highlight of the tourism industry's social calendar in the region and an opportunity to publicly recognise and showcase its finest tourism operators.
